Care Ministry:
Extended Care Visitation Ministry
The goal of this ministry is to get to know those wonderful people who are either temporarily or permanently homebound, residents of nursing homes, or assisted living centers, build bonds of friendship with them, and provide resources that will be helpful to them. By making visits to these children of God, we bring the church to those in extended care.
People in these situations often feel isolated, lonely, and depressed because they have had to leave the comfort and familiarity of their home. Often with that change, they also lose some of their independence and their support system of friends and neighbors. Therefore it is very important that shut-ins be helped to feel that they are still a vital part of the church family, even if they are unable to attend worship services or other church activities.
Our Extended Care Visitation Team members pray daily for our shut-ins and make regular monthly visits, taking along with them a Sunday bulletin, church newsletter, or CD of the church service, as well as a prayer calender, to show that our church community cares. In addition, our volunteers offer warm smiles, hugs, and handshakes that brighten their day!
